Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday confirmed she met with former Camarines Sur Representative Rolando Andaya Jr., who encouraged her to run for governor.
But she reiterated that she is still in the middle of a "decision making" process on the national and local elections to be held next year.
"Eto last kong nakausap si Congressman Andaya on February,3 2021. Pumunta sila, Ka Ely, sa—February 3, 2021—pumunta sila, Ka Ely, sa office at inaaya nga ako. Inaaya ako na mag-governor," said Robredo during this week's radio program.
(I talked to Andaya last February. They went to my office and they encouraged me to run as governor.)
"And ako very honest ako lagi na talagang option 'yan sakin, kung walang ibang consideration, preference ko lokal pero wala pa akong decision," she further said.
(I'm always honest, it is always an option for me, if I have no other consideration, my preference will be for a local office but I have no decision yet.)
Robredo previously said that she is still open to running for the presidency in 2022.
This comes in the wake of Andaya's statement on the Philippine Star, in which he claimed that Robredo had transferred her voter's registration to Magarao, Camarines Sur.
Asked if Andaya is urging her to seek the governorship to decrease opponents of pro-administration candidates, Robredo responded: "Hindi naman siguro. (Maybe not.)"
It can be recalled that Andaya recently shared a photo of himself with former Defense Secretary Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. going to Davao, citing that Teodoro got his vaccination. During the visit, Teodoro also met with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
