Vice President Maria “Leni” Robredo will formally kick off her presidential campaign with a visit to her bailiwick, which she said would serve as good fortune and as a show of gratitude to her constituents.
Robredo, along with her running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and their senatorial ticket, will go around Camarines Sur on Tuesday, February 8, and end with a grand rally in her hometown Naga City.
“‘Yung kickoff, dito ‘yun sa CamSur. Ganoon naman, parang pampabuwenas saka pagpapasalamat,” she said over the weekend.
“Laging kahit anong kaguluhan na pinagdadaanan ko, ‘pag nandito ako, nakakalimutan ko ‘yun lahat dahil [I am] among people who love me the most,” she added.

Robredo won significantly in Camarines Sur during her vice-presidential bid in 2016, garnering 663,855 votes in the area.
“Ang nagma-matter sa lahat na ‘yung mga nakakakilala sa’yo kung sino ka, naa-appreciate ikaw at hindi nadadala sa mga kasinungalingan na binibigay… Kaya ako nagpapasalamat sa kanila,” she said.

Robredo and her team are set to barnstorm in the region, which will coincide with the nationwide people’s campaign organized by her volunteers.
“This is the heart of the campaign: people coming out, making a decision that no matter how difficult the road is, talagang ipaglalaban ‘yung bayan (they will sincerely defend the country.)”
Should she win in the May polls, Robredo will be the first president from the Bicol region, and the third female president after former Presidents Corazon “Cory” Aquino and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. — DVM, GMA News
