The distribution of cash aid to families affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila is almost 90% completed, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Saturday.
"More or less we're at 90%," said DILG undersecretary Martin Diño in a Super Radyo dzBB interview, adding that Caloocan City is almost at 100% completion.
Diño said he observed that the distribution of cash aid during the ECQ this August was faster than previous distributions.
Metro Manila was placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20 in light of the transmission of the Delta coronavirus variant in the country. Under ECQ protocol, only essential trips and essential industries such as food and medicine are allowed to operate.
Around 11 million Metro Manila residents will benefit from the cash assistance.
Metro Manila has since been downgraded to a modified ECQ, which will run until September 7. -MDM, GMA News
