Senator Manny Pacquiao has plotted a 22-round agenda for the Philippines ahead of his announcement on his possible presidential bid in next year's elections.
“Sa aking pagte-train dito sa Los Angeles nakagawa po ako ng napakagandang solusyon po para sa ating bansa. Ito siguro pong solusyon na ito ipapaalam ko sa taong bayan. Napakaganda po talaga kapag ito ay nagawa sa Pilipinas uunlad po tayo,” Pacquiao said in a CNN Philippines interview.
(While I am training here in Los Angeles, I have crafted this very good solution for our country. If we are able to implement this, we will see developments in the Philippines.)
The lawmaker only mentioned five of the 22 points in his plan which are:
Eradicating corruption
Economic growth and development
Employment program
Housing program
Improving the healthcare system
He said he will explain each point once he arrives in the Philippines next week.
In the same interview, Pacquiao said that the he is open to forging alliances with other officials, regardless of their political inclination as long as they support his 22-point agenda.
“Open po ako sa lahat ng sasama sa akin, sa lahat ng mag-agree sa akin, pero isa lang po ang kondisyon ko…kailangan pareho tayo ng goal at pag-iisip,” he said.
(I am open to all those who are willing to join me but I have only one condition. We must ave the same goals and perspective.)
“‘Pag sila ay sasama sa akin yan po ang kondisyon ko sa kanila na gagawin natin yung nagawa kong 22-rounds priority agenda for the country,” he added.
(If they decide to support me, then my condition is to work on my 22-point priority agenda for the country.)
On the other hand, Pacquiao said he has not communicated yet to the group of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi in the PDP-Laban regarding the latter’s offer to have him in their senatorial slate for 2022.
“Wala po akong nakausap kahit isa o anuman. Hindi pa nila alam kung ano ang tatakbuhan ko either tatakbo akong pangulo o magbalik akong Senado, o kung kakalas na ako sa pagiging public servant,” he said.
(I have not talked to them yet. They do not know if I will be runnng for president, for the Senate, or if I will retire from being a public servant.)
Atty. Melvin Matibag, the secretary general of the PDP-Laban group led by Cusi, on Thursday said some allies of Pacquiao are hindering their attempts to talk to the lawmaker.
On Thursday, Pacquiao’s spokesperson Monico Puentevella said Pacquiao might run for president if if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte — daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte — will be the administration’s “anointed one.”
Pacquiao is expected to finalize his decision whether to gun for the country’s top post or not before October. —KBK, GMA News
